In November, Blue Religion organized a big clean-up in cooperation with Huellas de Pan, a non-profit organization that works to provide food security to vulnerable people in the urban area of Cancun.
One of the Blue religion conservation activities is cleaning the pollution from the green areas. At a first sight, it might seem it has nothing to do with the ocean conservation, but especially during the rainy season, the pollution from green land can end up in our oceans.
Another Blue Religion objective is to support the local communities. We are very proud to be able to cooperate with Huellas de Pan, an organization that provides nutritous food to the poeple in need. We were happy to combine two causes during this event: cleaning the area near the comedor in Huellas de Pan and collecting the food for this organization.
The mission of Huellas de Pan is to create opportunities of personal growth for vulnerable individuals in Cancun through nutrition programs, education, and social gathering. Their services are directed to the children, the seniors and the female heads of families. The help is provided in a way of lunch services, that gives the people a feeling of warmth and solidarity. Other services include recreational activites and monitoring of physical and mental health.
Blue religion volunteers brought over 70 kilos of healthy and nutritous food to support Huellas de Pan.
During this event, we were able to collect 1370 kilos of trash with the help of 70 Blue religion volunteers, 570 kilos non-recyclable plastics for company Petgaz, 235 kilos of recyclables for company Ecoce and 390 kilos of electronics for company Relmex.
