Expedition details

Yucatan Peninsula. These are some of the largest cave systems in the world, the underwater interaction with bull sharks and the ideal conditions for diving on the world's second largest coral reef. We will start this expedition with dives in the cenotes, karst caves filled with groundwater and rainwater. Some have sunken ceilings to form sunlit deep reservoirs, others remain closed and we will need to bring the light ourselves. Every day we will have three dives in selected cenotes. There will be three guides available for each of the dives, two of them experienced local guys who have been specializing in cenotes diving for many years. In the cenotes you can look forward to see underwater caves with stalactites, bright sunbeams penetrating the clear water, life in the form of water lilies and various species of fish or dreamy underwater clouds with magically protruding tree branches. From the cenotes, we move to the town of Playa del Carmen, where female bull sharks stay from November to March, and we dive with them. We will spend the last three days of the expedition on the Caribbean island Cozumel, along which stretches the Great Mesoamerican Reef Barrier, the second largest coral reef in the world. Here we will enjoy two days with a total of eight dives, where we will be able to observe countless species of fish, sea turtles, nurse sharks and beautiful eagle rays.
